Privacy Policy
TL;DR: tinyimg processes everything on your device. Nothing is ever uploaded to any server. We don't collect, store, or share your images or any personal data.
1. What We Collect
Apart from the anonymous statistics described in section 3, tinyimg collects nothing. It does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your images or image data
- Personal information (name, email, IP address, etc.)
- Personal usage tracking, behavioral profiling, or cross-site tracking
- Cookies or local storage that we set beyond what is necessary for the app to function (third-party advertising cookies are described in section 3)
2. How Image Processing Works
All image compression is performed entirely within your browser using WebAssembly (WASM). When you drop images into tinyimg:
- Images are loaded into browser memory only
- Compression happens in local Web Workers via WASM codecs
- No image data is ever sent over the network
- Compressed results are downloaded directly from your browser
You can verify this by disconnecting your internet after the page loads — compression will continue to work offline.
3. Hosting & Third Parties
tinyimg is hosted as a static website. The hosting provider may collect standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) as part of serving static files. These logs are not accessible to us and are not used for tracking or analytics purposes.
Advertising: we display ads through Google AdSense to keep this tool free. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and to measure ad performance. The advertising script loads with the page (it is needed for site verification and basic delivery), but personalised advertising and ad requests are only made after you give consent. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or learn about and opt out of participating vendors at aboutads.info.
Anonymous statistics: with your consent, we record anonymous aggregate statistics about each compression — the source and target formats, the input/output byte sizes, how long the compression took, the source image's pixel dimensions, the browser family and major version, the operating system family, a coarse viewport size band, the browser's primary language tag, and the country the request came from (derived by our host from the connection; we do not store the IP address). These statistics never include your image contents, filenames, IP addresses, or any identifier that could single you out, and are not used to track you across sites. Viewport size is stored only as a band (for example "<480" or "1024-1439"), never as exact pixels.
4. Data Retention
Anonymous aggregate statistics are retained in our hosting analytics service (Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine) in aggregate form only, with no personally identifying information. Images are held in your browser's memory only while the page is open and are cleared when you close or refresh the page.
5. Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations, you have the right to know what data is collected about you. We hold no personal data about you; the only data is the anonymous aggregate statistics described in section 3. You still retain all rights to your images, which never leave your device.
